If you’re a Google Chrome user like me, then you probably have 57 tabs open at any given time on any given day. Once you get that many, it’s hard to tell what’s what on those tiny tabs. Sure, you can hover over them and see what they are, but if you’re looking through that many tabs, it may take a while.
Fortunately, there’s a new feature available in Google Chrome that allows you to search your tabs. You have to do a little bit of hacking (okay, I’m exaggerating), but it’s not that hard. Here’s how to do it.
- First, you’ll need to have the most recent Chrome update, version 88.
- Copy and paste the following URL into your address bar: chrome://flags/#enable-tab-search
- Click the pulldown menu next to “Enable Tab Search” and click to enable.
- You’ll be prompted to relaunch Chrome.
Once Chrome reloads, you’ll see a small icon in the top right corner of the Chrome browser. When you click on that, a pulldown menu appears with all of your tabs listed. Type in the tab you’re searching for, and the tabs will filter until you find the tab you’re searching for.
